Dorothy Marie (Glaser) Healy, born on May 14, 1927, in Torrance, California, passed away peacefully in Nashville TN on July 1, 2024, at the age of 97. Dorothy was raised in Bellaire, Ohio and when she was seven years old, experienced the untimely passing of her mother, Marie Behres Ford. She was then lovingly raised by her maternal grandmother, Caroline Behres.
Dorothy attended Bellaire Saint John’s High School, she graduated in 1945 and entered nurses training at Wheeling Hospital in West Virginia, graduating in 1948. A year later, Dorothy married local WWII hero, Richard Glaser. Together they raised eight children. In 1982, she was widowed for the first time. 9 years later, Dorothy reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Henry Healy. Dorothy and Henry married in 1992 and enjoyed 11 years of marriage while living in Peachtree City. Georgia.
A devout Catholic, Dorothy was a long-time member of Corpus Christi Parish in Warwood, WV, for 50 years and later at Holy Trinity Parish in Peachtree City, Georgia, for 21 years. She regularly attended church and volunteered at the Piedmont Fayetteville Hospital.Dorothy was passionate about playing bridge, sewing, and making baby blankets. She cherished her time spent with her grandchildren, often teaching them card games. Known for her loving, gracious, and welcoming personality, Dorothy always made those around her feel special. Her secret to a long and healthy life was her commitment to exercise and prayer, which she did daily, right up until her passing.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard William Glaser; her second husband, Henry Healy; her son Thomas, her grandson Ross Glaser; her sister Elizabeth Glaser; her brother Jack Ford, and her mother and father, Marie and John Ford.She is survived by her children: Nancy Glaser of Louisville, KY; William Glaser and his wife Adele of Santa Fe, NM; Anne Glaser and her husband Richard DeLisi of Atlanta, GA; Rita Glaser of Atlanta, GA; Marie Glaser and her husband John Fitzpatrick of Nashville, TN; Patricia Glaser Shea and her husband John Shea of Nashville, TN; Michael Glaser and his wife Chris Van Beneden of Atlanta, GA; and Martha Glaser DuBois and her husband Tony DuBois of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by her brother, James Ford of Niles, OH.
Dorothy leaves behind a truly impactful legacy through her grandchildren: Michael Welton, Erin Still, Emily Glaser, Sarah Welton, Matthew Campbell, Suzanne Campbell, Zachary Brickner, Allison Fitzpatrick, Kasey Fitzpatrick, McKenzie DuBois, Delaney DuBois, and seven great-grandchildren.Dorothy will be remembered for her kindness, her dedication to family, her faith, her love of bridge and her zest for life. She touched the hearts of many and will be dearly missed. Donations can be made to Alive Hospice Nashville, Corpus Christi Catholic Church or Catholic Charities West Virginia in Dorothy’s memory.
A memorial service will be held to honor Dorothy’s life, with details to be announced later.
