Douglas Grochau

July 2, 1965 — February 3, 2023

Douglas Martin Grochau passed away peacefully on February 3, 2023, surrounded by his family after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.  He was a beloved husband, father, brother, son and great friend to many.  Doug was born in Memphis, TN, on July 2, 1965, to Barbara and Earl Grochau.  He grew up in Memphis and graduated from Memphis University School.  Doug was a lifelong Rebels fan, graduating from Ole Miss with both his Bachelors and Masters in Accountancy.  He was a member of the Delta Psi Fraternity and always enjoyed returning to football games in the fall, meeting up with his lifelong college friends.  Doug was a CPA and worked in Memphis, moved to Atlanta and finally Nolensville, TN, working in the hospitality industry for many years.

Doug loved to go hunting, ride wave runners at the lake and go snow skiing with his family. He also dearly loved the family's dogs, especially giving them rides around the neighborhood on the golf cart.  He  loved playing pickleball with his friends and was active with the Scouts.  He will be greatly missed by his wife of 29 years, Karen Wilhelm Grochau, his children, Megan, Ashley and Hunter, his parents Barbara and Earl Grochau and brothers Mark Grochau (Leslea) and David Grochau.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the end of February. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Doug's name be made either to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (Doug believed it was difficult enough for an adult to have cancer let alone a child), Critter Cavalry Rescue, 608 Eastcastle Court; Franklin, TN 37065, or via PayPal Crittercavalry@comcast.ne t (where the family adopted two of their beloved dogs), or IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center for thymoma cancer research either by mail with checks payable to IUSCCC/Thymoma and Thymic Carcinoma Research and mailed to IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center; PO Box 7072; Indianapolis, IN 46207-7072 (indicate “In memory of Doug Grochau” on the memo line) or online at https://give.myiu.org/centers-institutes/I380009633.html.
