It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gerard Joseph Follettie, Jr., our beloved son, little brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and colleague. After a brief illness, Joe went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus. Joe is predeceased by the passing of our mother, Patricia Schreindl Follettie in 1981, and our father, Gerard Follettie, Sr. in 2018.
Joe was born in Modesto, CA and lived the remaining 24 years of his life in Roseville, CA before relocating to TN. His siblings eagerly awaited his birth. He was affectionately called "Joey" from the very beginning, only to go by Joe as an adult.
Joe attended the University of Nevada, Reno to become a Geological Engineer. He fulfilled his dream in June of 1998, excelling in all of his classes. We were proud of him when he received that degree. Joe was a hard worker and a devoted employee for Wallace Kuhl in West Sacramento, CA for most of his career. He was devoted to doing the best job, and he did it with integrity.
Joe had so many wonderful qualities. He was honorable, true, and quite witty and fun. His smile was beautiful. He loved music and playing guitar. He was self-taught and was very talented. Joe loved the outdoors, rocks, fishing, and traipsing in the Sierra Nevada mountains and the desert. He especially loved Lake Tahoe. Joe was also a great cook. Joe’s family looked forward to his meals. We all knew when we went there, Joe would take the time to feed everyone. That was Joe.
Joe loved his family dearly. He was a rock when it came to caring for his father. He did the same with his soulmate, Kathy, who passed away. Joe was always there for his family.
We will forever miss him, but we know our "Joey" loved Jesus, and he will be resting with him. We eagerly await seeing him again. He is lovingly remembered by all of his family. Rest in peace Joe. We love you, but we are assured that we will see you again. We rest in that hope and await the day that we are reunited. With eternal love, your family. We miss you.
