Gloria Aileen Hawkins

Gloria Aileen Hawkins, 82, of Springfield, Tennessee passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 27, 2024.

Born October 26, 1942, in Galion, Ohio to Eugene and Aileen Wilcox, Gloria was the oldest of four children, who after graduating high school, went to Grant Hospital in Columbus Ohio to pursue her nursing degree. Once completed, Gloria started her nursing career at Galion Ohio Community Hospital, working for Dr. Skinner.

At the age of 27, Gloria married the love of her life Charles Wesley Hawkins, and they proceeded to have two children, Anne and Chuck. She stepped away from her nursing career at the birth of their first child so that she would be able to focus on being a mom but continued to serve at St Paul’s Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.

In 1987, the family moved to Springfield Tennessee where she faithfully served as a member of First United Methodist Church of Springfield. Serving in the choir, teaching Sunday school and working in the daycare.

Gloria is preceded by her parents, Eugene and Aileen Wilcox, spouse Charles Hawkins, brother Larry Wilcox, and beloved nephew Jon Wilcox.

Gloria is survived by her daughter Anne Christian, son Chuck Hawkins and his wife Kelly, sister Ginger Wilcox, brother Terry Wilcox and his wife Crystal, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gloria’s Tennessee family and friends will have a memorial service December 13, 2024, at First United Methodist Church of Springfield

Gloria’s Ohio family and friends will have a Celebration of Life at a later date in August 2025.
