Janice Austin

Janice A. Austin MSN, 75, died on February 6, 2023 in Springfield, TN, surrounded by those who love her. She was a supportive and loving daughter, wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. Janice was born September 25, 1947 in Port Arthur, TX. Despite living around the world as a Military spouse (Navy), she always considered herself a Texan.

Janice married the love of her life, William H. Austin, on October 20, 1965 and gave birth to their daughter, Dawn, on April 14, 1966. They were a tight-knit family, making memories camping through Europe and living in Spain during William’s service in the United States Navy.

Janice loved Nursing and wanted to be a nurse from a young age. As a young mother she earned her LPN and RN with honors to start her career in Healthcare as a CCU Nurse at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY. She was heavily involved with Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Janice continued her education even further by earning her Master of Science in Nursing and she served as a Director of Nursing at several facilities in the Syracuse area.

After retiring, Janice split her time between her home in Liverpool, NY and Springfield, TN to spend more time with her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter in the Nashville area. She was an avid reader her entire life and loved crocheting and attending her granddaughter’s many varied musical performances.

Janice is survived by her daughter, Dawn Moyer (Scott) of Springfield, TN and granddaughter, Kayleigh Moyer of Nashville, TN, brother, Randy Sanchez (Maria), sisters Nancy Cheevers (Rich), Lori Kelly (Larry), brother-in-law Charles Austin, brother-in-law Jim Ruedinger, as well as her nieces and nephews, Eric, Jenny, Casey, Lauren, David, James, Daniel, Sarah, Erin, Matthew, Kate, Ashleigh, Heather, Patrick, Marie, and Erin.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband William Austin, her parents, Marjorie and Nicolas Sanchez, and her sister, Cricket Ruedinger.

Service details have yet to be announced. The family is planning to lay Janice to rest beside her husband at St. Mary’s in Dewitt, NY later this Spring.
