Jere Younger

Jere Leonard Younger, age 73, of Leoma, TN passed away peacefully at his residence on January 11, 2018. He was the son of the late Robert Chesley Younger and Grace Laverne Bedwell Younger. He was born in La Plata, Maryland on July 2, 1944.As a small child his family moved back to Friendship, TN in Coffee County. He joined the U. S. Navy and proudly served for over nine years as a Navy Hospital Corpsman and during that time served in the Vietnam War. He met his wife Sharon while they were both serving in the Navy. He and Sharon married September 5, 1970 and were married for over 47 years. Jere loved going fishing and working outside. After he retired from the Navy, he continued to work in the healthcare industry as an R.N. and became the Director of Healthcare Facilities for the State of Tennessee before his retirement. He was of the Christian faith.He is survived by his wife, Sharon Ellison Younger of Leoma, TN; daughter, Jennifer Younger of Nashville, TN; son, Andrew (Dana) Younger of Mt. Pleasant, TN; step sister, Barbara Dresser Savitsky of Enunclaw, WA; and grandsons, Nicholas and Alex.A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, February 9, 2018 at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 7931 McCrory Lane, Nashville, TN 37221.
