Kenneth Solesby died on April 29 at age 76 from complications of diabetes. He is preceded in death by his father William Earl Solesby and son Mark Heyward Solesby. He is survived by his mother Doris Chastain Solesby, sister Brenda Solesby Pettit, son Adam Gregory Solesby, granddaughter Leland Olivia Solesby and grandson William Luke Solesby.
Ken was born and grew up in Spartanburg, SC. He graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1965 and received a BS in Business Administration from Methodist College (Fayetteville, NC) in 1969. Initially he followed his father into a sales career by earning college tuition selling Electrolux vacuum cleaners door to door during the summers of his college years. Following graduation, he became a wholesale furniture representative covering the state of Tennessee with Broyhill Furniture Company and later with Lexington Furniture Company.
Ken was an avid golfer and tennis player. He was a loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves, Vanderbilt baseball and Belmont basketball teams—frequently attending games with friends and providing color commentary.
Ken was a lifelong Christian and active member of his church family. For many years, he dedicated his time and service helping adults with developmental disabilities at Brightstone.
