Marion Nada Dunn

October 19, 1933 — July 27, 2023

McEwen

Marion Nada Dunn (nee Wheeler) was born on October 19, 1933, in Presque Isle, Maine. She passed away peacefully in her sleep early on the morning of July 27, 2023.

Marion lived much of her life in Tennessee, where she raised two children, Kevin (d. 2001) and Janine. She had a career that included various bookkeeping jobs and many hobbies, including square dancing, bingo, and keeping her own personal weather almanacs. She retired in the late 90s to the small farm in McEwen she once shared with her late husband Monroe, a place her grandchildren fondly remember staying as children, where they slept on her couches and woke early in the morning to the sound of guinea fowl and chickens. The days would be spent playing outside, picking vegetables from the huge garden, watching television, and rifling for prizes through the boxes of Avon that were always on hand. The square dances she took her grandchildren to are remembered by them all, as was the time she spent teaching them so many card games. The gumballs in the miniature machine on her coffee table were always a source of interest!

In retirement, Marion spent time with her family, socialized with friends (including many senior day trips to casinos), delved into the world of racing, and enjoyed the company of beloved pets. Her family remembers her best for her cheeky sense of humor, her tenacity and resilience, her love of cats, and the gleeful schadenfreude with which she watched her least favorite NASCAR driver Kyle Busch. She was a fighter until the end. Marion was preceded in death by her husband Monroe Dunn, her son Kevin Earl White, her brother William Charles Wheeler, life-long best friend Janie, and companion Clark. She is survived by her daughter Janine Renee Whited, grandchildren Christopher Matthew White (m. April), Heather Arline Whited, Mark Anthony White (m. Robin), and Savannah Nichole Schoen (m. Lucas). and great grandchildren Kevin Logan White, Luther Zane White, Oliver Cole White, Zachariah Xaver White, Chyenne Nicole White, Meier Anthony Schoen, and Lennon Nada Schoen, her namesake.
