Martha Tygard

Martha McCallum Tygard, aged 86, died peacefully on February 5, 2015 following a short illness. Martha was born on 5/28/28 in Christiana, TN as the fourth of five children to the late Charlie and Lizzie McCallum. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles "Buddy" McCallum, sisters Mildred Foster, and Sarah Minor. Survived by sister, Kate Holden of Christiana, TN; and sons, Walter Scott (Sandi) Tygard and Charles (Judy) Tygard; grandchildren Kathleen Tygard, Chandler Tygard, Jill Mertes, Jennifer Tygard, and great grandchildren Megan, Matthew, and Macey Mertes all of Nashville, TN.In addition to raising her two children she was devoted to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Martha was a lifelong gardener, cook, game show enthusiast, and bingo player. Family and friends were Martha's passion and delight.A Celebration of Martha's Life will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the J. L. Turner/YMCA/Fifty Forward Center on Wednesday, February 18 followed by lunch and a ceremonial Bingo Game.
