Mary Ferrell

Mary Ruth Jackson Ferrell, age 85 of Nashville, TN passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016. Mrs. Ferrell was born April 4, 1931 in Gleason, TN.Mrs. Ferrell worked in retail, specializing in assisting brides-to-be in the wedding department. She was a fan of all sports and never missed any of her son's games. She and her husband enjoyed spending time at their second home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Northwestern NC and she loved to travel. Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk, NC and Williamsburg, VA were always favorite places to visit. She will forever be remembered as "Mom"; not only to her sons, but to her son's friends growing up and through college, her daughters-in-law who were truly the daughters she never had, and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife and mother that ruled with the iron fist but whose love was unconditional. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know her during her 85 years.Mrs. Ferrell was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry and Mamie Gillespie Jackson, whom she loved dearly.Mrs. Ferrell is survived by her husband, William Owen Ferrell Sr.; sons, William Owen (Robbin) Ferrell Jr., Rory Jackson (Ann) Ferrell and Douglas Anderson (Julie) Ferrell; grandchildren, Will Ferrell, Ashley Coulter, Tyler Ferrell, Andy Ferrell and Madison Ferrell; and great-grandchildren, Katie, Jack and Ryan Coulter.In honoring Mrs. Ferrell's request, no public services will be held and she will be laid to rest at a location that holds a special place in her family's hearts.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Tennessee Children’s Home, PO Box 10, Springhill, TN 37174 or by visiting .
