Regena Baggett

August 27, 1932 — January 25, 2025

Regena Maddox Baggett went to be with Jesus on January 25, 2025. She was born August 27,1932 in Paris, TN to Irby and Retha Easley Maddox. Regena, an only child, enjoyed a loving childhood and also enjoyed her large extended family after marrying Wallace Baggett, one of ten children. Regena attended Grove High School in Paris, TN. While a student at Murray State University (KY) Regena met the love of her life, Wallace Baggett. They shared 72 beautiful years of marriage, wholly committed to each other in all aspects of their lives. They shared a devotion to each other that will live on forever. The couple served as a model to many of how wonderful a marriage can be. Their unwavering love will continue to inspire those who knew them. 

Regena was a high school teacher in Ramsey, IL and Paducah KY, middle school teacher in Union City, TN, and elementary school librarian in Nashville, TN. She worked in the Pogue Special Collections Library at Murray State University (KY), served on the faculty at Paducah Community College (KY), and was a psychological examiner with Chattanooga school system.

Regena is survived by her husband, Dr. Wallace Baggett; two daughters, Janice Baggett Wishau (Roger) of The Villages, FL and Patricia Baggett King (Gary) of Nashville, TN. Regena and Wallace have six grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; Dr. Tyler Wishau (Jensena) of Mount Vernon, IL with their four children Sophie, Caleb, Luke, and Jason, Julie Wishau Hamilton (David) of Gifu City, Japan with their six children Hudson, Caroline, Grant, Anita, Meyer, and Jesse, Erin King Beaudoin (Tyler) Nashville, TN with their three sons TK, Stratton, and Beau, Ryan Wishau (Victoria) Sylvania, OH with their son Wallace, Davis King, Nashville, TN, and Ben Wishau (Ashley) Maitland, FL with their son Zebedee. 

A chapel service will be held at their home church, Bellevue United Methodist Church in Nashville TN where Regena was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and Methodist Women. Arrangements are pending. In lieu of flowers, financial contributions in memory of Regena Baggett can be made to Samaritan’s Purse at samaritanspurse.org
