Robert Wood

November 2, 1960 — August 27, 2022

Robert Fletcher Wood, 61, born Nov. 2, 1960, in Macon, Ga., to Elmer Leonidas Wood and Lillian Christine (Reidling) Wood, died Aug. 27, 2022 at his home in Nashville, TN. He lived in his hometown of Macon, Ga. until October, 2010, when he moved to Nashville to be closer to three of his sisters and several nieces and nephews. After high school and while he was still in Macon, Fletcher worked for his father’s television sales and service business, Corona Electronics, as an electronics technician. He drove a truck for Borden Dairy for a while and he worked for Stanley Steamer for eighteen years. Then he worked for Ackerman Wrecker Service in Macon for five or six years. Fletcher was married to Krista Stark for thirteen years and became “daddy” to her two children, Andy and Brittany who were very young when Fletcher and Krista first met. Krista and most of his friends and co-workers in Macon called him “Rob” but he was always Fletcher to his family of origin. Fletcher was friends with Krista’s mom, Stella, and always appreciated her hospitality when he would make trips back to Macon. He remained close to Andy and Brittany after he moved to Nashville and Brittany made several trips up to visit him. About five years after moving to Nashville Fletcher moved to an apartment at Trevecca Towers located on the campus of Trevecca Nazarene University. Then a few months later one of his sisters, Jean, also got an apartment there. They really enjoyed being able to spend more time together. Since Jean no longer drives, Fletcher helped her out so much taking her places such as grocery shopping and to doctors’ appointments. Jean really enjoys cooking and is a very good cook so they would usually have meals together. Fletcher will truly be missed by Jean and by her little cat, Tippy. About four years ago some of the residents of Trevecca Towers decided to rejuvenate a flower bed and garden there which had been ignored for quite some time. Fletcher did a lot of work on the garden and really enjoyed it. Fletcher also enjoyed visiting and spending time with his nieces and nephews, his great niece, Abbie, and his sisters, Gail, Margaret (when she visited from Virginia) and Mary (before she died in 2018). He also enjoyed watching movies and television. He and Jean were members of the YMCA and back when he was still physically able to do so, they enjoyed going to the “Y” to exercise. Then after he could no longer do that they would go there just to sit and have coffee with and chat with friends they had made there. Fletcher is survived by his sisters, Patricia Gail (Ray) Lessman and Nora Jean Wood both of Nashville, TN, and Margaret Ann (Tim) Hartsfield of Norfolk, VA; his brother Richard Leon (Cathy) Wood; nieces Katrina (Gordy) Ringrose, Christy (Scott) Simmons, Tala Marie Miralai, and Sarah (Alex) Hansen; nephews Rick (Lindsay) Wood, Nathan (Lindsey) Wood, Eric (Jamie) Hartsfield, Ali Miralai and Amir Miralai; Krista Stark, Andy Stark and his children and Brittany Stark and her children; one aunt and uncle, Bobbie (Wood) and Rev. Julius Strand; eleven great nieces and nephews and many cousins. He was predeceased  by his parents and one sister Mary (Wood) Miralai; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Sunday, Sep. 25, 2022, at 2:30pm at Charlie Daniels Park and Community Center in Mt. Juliet, TN.
