Roger Nathan Himmel, age 77 of Baxter, TN passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015. Mr. Himmel was born on April 5, 1938 in Buffalo, NY to Richard Joseph and Ruth Getzen Himmel.Mr. Himmel loved his country, joining the United States Air Force and serving as a medic in Maine, Alaska and Texas. He owned several businesses in Buffalo, NY over the years and later in life worked as a realtor in Port Charlotte, FL. He enjoyed fishing for walleye and loved the music of Barbara Streisand, Frank Sinatra and Glenn Miller. He was a passionate fan of football, following TCU, Tennessee Tech and the Buffalo Bills.He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda; his children, Richard (Sharon) Himmel, Cheryl Himmel and John Himmel; grandson, Robert Himmel; granddaughters, Rebecca Himmel, Samantha Himmel, Nicole Harper and Jamie Harper; great-grandson, Dawson Riley Harper; two sisters, Deborah (Tom) Ernst and Karen Curry-Brown; extended family and friendsA celebration of Mr. Himmel's life will be conducted 3:30 PM, on Saturday, October 17, 2015 and October 18, 2015 at Baxter Crossroads Church of God, 1342 Dunavin Drive, TN 38544.
My father was always my biggest fan. He also supported me no matter what. He attended everything I did while growing up, every football game or school activity. I joined the U.S. Air Force because I wanted to walk in his footsteps. He always made me feel proud to be his son.
