Rufus Stone Jr.

Rufus Lee Stone Jr., age 80 of Goodlettsville, TN passed away July 16, 2017 in Nashville, TN. He was born July 5, 1937 in Nashville, TN to the late Rufus Lee Stone Sr. and the former Teresa Huddleston.Born and raised in Nashville Tennessee, Mr. Stone was a graduate of Goodlettsville High School. After graduating, he served his country, joining the United States Army. He was a brick cleaner by trade who loved his work and his loyal customers, Frank Batson Homes and Gaines Construction, along with many, many others. He was an admirer of history and loved to read books. An amazing son, brother, husband, father and friend to many, he will be remembered as a kind, compassionate, loving and giving man.Mr. Stone was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Walter Potter; brothers, Richard Stone, Kenneth Stone and Bobby Stone; sister, Francis Johnson.Mr. Stone is survived by his wife of 57 years, Willie Stone; son, Jeff (Cara) Stone; daughter - Michelle (Kyle) Marentette; sisters, Carolyn Hicks and Pam Mayes; grandchildren, Kristin Marentette, Kelsey (Clint) Taylor, Kelly Marentette, Shelby Stone and Houston Stone; great grandchildren, Jute Marentette, Jack Donohoe, Jonah Jeffers and Preslee Taylor.A celebration of Mr. Stone's life will be held from 2 P.M. until 4 P.M., Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Connell Memorial United Methodist Church's Leaper Fellowship Hall. The church is located at 113 Church Street in Goodlettsville, TN.
