Samuel Kermit Welborn Jr., age 73 of Nashville, TN passed away February 9, 2017. Mr. Welborn was born September 13, 1943 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Samuel Kermit Welborn Sr. and Ina Gray Welborn.Mr. Welborn served in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his service in Vietnam. Upon his return, he graduated from Wingate Junior College and the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. He spent 28 years working as a sales representative with 3M Company. He served on the Board of Trustees at Wingate University and was a Deacon and Stephen Minister at First Presbyterian Church, Nashville. Mr. Welborn was a longtime golf member at Richland Country Club. His favorite hobby was using his Master Gardener skills to enhance the perennial garden at his home.Mr. Welborn is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sandra G. Welborn, and many other family members and friends.A service to celebrate Mr. Welborn's life will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 29, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, Nashville. The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M., on Saturday, prior to the service. Mr. Welborn will be laid to rest in Swan Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Jonesville, NC at a later date.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 4815 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN 37220; the Samuel K.
