On Saturday November 21, 2020, Shirley Ann Hancock, loving mother of four children and grandmother, passed away at the age of 79, peacefully in her sleep. Shirley was born on March 2, 1941 in Davenport, Iowa.She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy with honors, as well as completing her associate in business. Instead of working, she chose to travel and spend time with her children. Her passion was caring for animals and working in medical offices. Even in her work, she helped others and put them first.She married Neil Hancock in 1959. They raised three sons: Michael, Joe, Todd, and their daughter, Julie. Her grandchildren are Cailtin and Jenna Caruso, Charles Edward and Robert Joseph, and Haley, Amber, Maria, and Megan Hancock. Shirley had a passion for the outdoors. Anytime she could, she would be out gardening, fishing or taking a stray animal home.One of her biggest accomplishments was Hancock's Honey Ranch, that she and her four children grew into a beautiful business. They sold the business in 1973 and traveled with their children until 1984.In 1986, Shirley Hancock met Linda Rucki and they were best friends until the day she passed.. Her daughter, Julie Hancock Caruso passed away in 2009. Her and Linda Rucki raised Caitlin and Jenna Caruso.In lieu of flowers Shirley has requested that there will be no funeral services and that any donations be made to the Cheatham County Animal Shelter .
