Thomas Ellery Hendrix, 66, a longtime resident of Nashville, TN, passed away Monday, September 30, 2019. Known as "Tommy" to his family and friends, he graduated from Monroe County High School in 1971, and from the University of Alabama in 1975.Recently retired after a long career in supply management at St. Thomas Hospital, Tommy had many personal interests in which he excelled, including photography. He was best, however, at bringing people together, despite the fact that he was shy by nature.During his childhood and teenage years in Monroeville, Alabama.Tommy's house was a gathering place for his many friends, who to this day cherish the memories of happy times at the Hendrix house and in the countryside around Monroeville. His family and closest friends will always remember him as someone who gave freely of himself, with no expectation of returned favors.Despite failing health, in his last months and weeks, Tommy generously supported friends in Nashville who were unable to care for themselves. He attended The Born Again church with his special friend, Jeanette. He will be greatly missed by everyone who loved him.He was preceded in death by his parents: LeRoy Thomas Hendrix and Henrietta Jones Hendrix. Survivors include his brother, Robert Dennis Hendrix of Baton Rouge, LA, and cousins Babs Hendrix Tolle (Jeff) of Magnolia Springs, AL, and Jacqueline Hendrix Goins (David) of Charleston, TN.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. You are invited to post a message of condolence to nashvillecremationcenter.com.
