Troy Randall Tidwell

Troy Randall Tidwell, most recently of Nashville, TN died on August 12, 2024, at Saint Thomas West Hospital. He passed peacefully with his family by his side. 

Troy, age 76, was born on November 8, 1947 in Burns, TN to parents Melvin Hester Tidwell and Mabel Annie Flowers Tidwell. He grew up in the Dickson area and graduated from Dickson County High School in 1965. Troy briefly attended Austin Peay University and served in the National Guard of Armed Forces. In his early career, Troy was a computer programmer and entrepreneur, and owned several different businesses in Paris, TN.

Troy enjoyed traveling, spending time on Kentucky Lake, car races, grilling, fishing, and all things outdoors. He was an avid DIYer and could often be found doing a home remodeling or woodworking project.

Troy is survived by his faithful and loving partner, Gloria Hearn of Mayfield, KY; daughters Wendy Tidwell Kern (Chad) of Elberta, AL, Kristy Tidwell May (Duncan) of Nashville, and Destinee Tidwell of Clarksville; grandchildren Tula (18), Nyla (2), Nyxee (1), and Nash (1). Troy is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Ann Sullivan, and his granddaughter, Kylie May.

The family sincerely thanks the staff, nurses, and caregivers at The Lodge at Natchez Trace Assisted Living for their persistent compassion and excellent care over the last two years. This loving and warm community became home to Troy, where he tended to the community garden, worked and framed many puzzles, and was an active member and leader in resident meetings.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 14, 2024 at the Harpeth Room at Loveless Cafe, 8400 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN 37221 at 3:00pm. Guests are invited to share their stories and memories of Troy at that time. The family will be receiving visitors from 1:00-3:00pm
