Douglas Edwin Earl Lorton, age 84 of Franklin, TN, passed away Friday, September 4, 2015 in Nashville, TN. Mr. Lorton was born May 9, 1931 in North Hampton, OH to Edwin Earl and Bertha Esther Lodema Le Dent Lorton.He served his country, joining the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War and achieving rank of Staff Sargent. A proud graduate of The Ohio State University, he held his Bachelor's Degree in Dairy Technology. He was the former owner of Long Branch Dairy in Tremont City, OH and retired from his position of Plant Manager at Turner Dairy after many years of service. He was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He also served the community as a Mason and through the Lions Club.He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Wanda Detrick. He is survived by his beloved wife, Connie Camp Lorton; children, Amy Lorton of Franklin, TN, Steve Lorton of Eugene, OR, Theresa Jerger, Holland, IN, Michael Lorton of Richmond, VA and Julie Stewart of Columbus, OH; sister, Louise Perkins of Hinkley, OH; 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many other family and friends.Funeral Mass to celebrate Mr. Lorton's life will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, September 19, 2015 at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Fulton, KY.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Lions Club.
