Lonnie Manning, Jr., age 72 of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015. He was born in Selma, AL, on May 22, 1943 to Lonnie Manning, Sr., and the former Mary Homsey.A devoted and faithful Jehovah's Witness, Mr. Manning spent many hours in a voluntary ministry work in which he enjoyed sharing the Bible's hope with others. After retiring from management in the Bell Telephone System in Georgia, where he was a civil engineer working with fiber optics. Mr. Manning relocated to Tennessee in 1996 and taught a variety of classes at several campuses in and around the Nashville area. Later accepting a full time position with the University of Phoenix where he was department chair of the college of business, he retired in 2014.Mr. Manning is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; daughters and sons-in-law Jennifer Manning and Greg Cutler of Brooklyn, NY, and Amy Manning and Michael Fitzsimmons of Belvedere, CA; his parents of Cookeville, TN; granddaughter Lyla Fitzsimmons of Belvedere, CA; sister Debbie Manning of Cookeville, TN; brother Russell Manning and sister-in-law, Sondra Jamison, both of Knoxville, TN. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday November 7, 2015 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1720 East Northfield Blvd., Murfreesboro, TN.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alive Hospice at 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203 or at alivehospice.org.
