Michael Alfred Wolverton, age 71 of Nashville, passed away on June 22, 2015. Mike was born May 5, 1944 in Richmond, CA to Alf and Hazel Wolverton.Mike moved to Texas at age 6. He attended South Oak Cliff High School before entering the Army and serving in Korea, just prior to Vietnam. He was a member of the IBEW and was a master electrician, general contractor, and a private pilot. Mike was a small business owner until his retirement last year. Mike lived life to the fullest, loving travel, flying, sky diving, scuba diving, golf and most important, his family. Tim McGraw's song said it best, "Someday I hope you get the chance to live like you were dying."Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Lisa Patterson. He is survived by his wife, Sandra D. Wolverton; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Stephanie Wolverton; daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Tim DuBois; son-in-law, Kevin Patterson; sister, Biddy Lou Mumme; grandchildren, Austin DuBois, Chandler and Tristan Wolverton, and Joshua and Cailey Patterson; several nieces and nephews.A celebration of Mike's life will be conducted at 10 A.M., Saturday, June 27, 2015 in the Outdoor Chapel of Woodmont Christian Church.The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association at 1818 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203, Above + Beyond Cancer at 1915 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50309 or to www.aboveandbeyondcancer.org, or to the charity of the donor's choice.Arrangements entrusted to Nashville Cremation Center, (615) 678-4832.
